Sigma Chi Sesquicentennial Celebration

150 Years & Counting

The Mu Chapter of Sigma Chi is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its charter at Denison on April 13-14, 2018. The weekend’s activities are planned to observe, honor, and remember the legacy of Denison’s “Men of Mu,” as well as look forward to the dynamic future of the chapter on campus. Brothers, along with family members and friends of the chapter, are invited to join the celebration.

Denison President Adam Weinberg will be on hand to share his remarks, and our keynote address will be delivered by the incomparable Richard Hester, the 59th Grand Consul of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a fantastic speaker.

Cost for alumni and friends for the weekend (excluding golf) is $150 per individual. Their guests are welcome for Saturday’s dinner at the Granville Inn at a cost of $75.

And if you’d really like to make a weekend of it, stick around until Sunday afternoon, when the No. 6-ranked Big Red men’s lacrosse team plays host to No. 12 Ohio Wesleyan in a contest between backyard rivals with important conference, regional, and national implications. Face-off is at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium, and the place will be rockin’.

You won't want to miss this landmark event in our chapter's long and celebrated history!

For on-campus events, parking will be available in the Reese~Shackelford Common parking garage, and golf cart shuttles will be available upon request to transport alumni and guests between the garage and the Sigma Chi House.

Schedule of events

Friday, April 13

6:30 p.m. — Brotherhood Rally barbecue at the Sigma Chi House for current student and alumni Sigma Chi brothers only. Visitor parking available in the Reese~Shackelford Common parking garage.

Saturday, April 14

10 a.m. — Sesquicentennial Chapter Meeting in Knobel Hall in the Burton D. Morgan Center for current student and alumni Sigma Chi brothers only. Coffee and light refreshments provided. Visitor parking available in the Reese~Shackelford Common parking garage.

1 p.m. — Golf at Denison Golf Club (formerly Granville Golf Course). There will be separate green fees for this event.

3-5 p.m. — Open House: Members of the Denison and Granville communities are invited to tour the house and visit with Mu Chapter’s active and alumni members. Light refreshments provided. Visitor parking available in the Reese~Shackelford Common parking garage.

6:30 p.m. — Sesquicentennial Celebration in Denison Hall at the Granville Inn. Leaders of the International Fraternity and Denison University will be on hand to help commemorate the occasion.

Sunday, April 15

1 p.m. — Denison Lacrosse vs. Ohio Wesleyan at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. The high-flying Big Red team currently sits at No. 6 nationally, while the Battling Bishops check in at No. 12. As is always the case when these two rivals get together, there will be a lot riding on this one!
