We are thrilled to host and celebrate the great Denison Class of 2020 with a combination Commencement and Second-Year Reunion from June 10-12, 2022. Yes, all in one weekend!

You, your friends, and your families are invited to this special celebration weekend full of food, fun, the Senior Bucket list, Baccalaureate, Commencement, and more!

We are excited to share that two Denison alumni and trustees, James Anderson ’85, head of corporate communications and marketing at WarnerMedia and interim head of communications at CNN, and Kathryn Correia ’79, president and CEO of Legacy Health, will deliver remarks during the Commencement exercises. 

On-campus housing and activities are open to members of the Class of 2020 at no cost. Family and friends are encouraged to stay at local hotels and will incur small fees for food and beverages on campus. Please complete your registration for yourself and include the number of your guests.

Schedule of Events

Friday, June 10

All day | Golf at the Denison Golf Club

The Denison Golf Club has tee times available on Friday and early Saturday morning. Call the course at 740-587-4653 or email Todd Bishop, bishoptj@denison.edu, to set up a tee time with your friends and family for the weekend. Cost is $50 per person.

3-5 p.m. | Knowlton Center for Career Exploration Open House, Burton D. Morgan Center

Stop by the Knowlton Center if you want to know more about resources available for young alumni or want to have a quick chat with a career coach or a member of the Employer & Alumni Relations team.

3-7 p.m. | Residence hall check-in, Burton D. Morgan Center

2020 Graduates, get your key to your residence hall room, cap and gown, and vouchers for your weekend activities.

5-9 p.m. | Enjoy dinner in Granville

Members of the Class of 2020 will receive a $15 voucher that is good at these great restaurants: Broadway Pub, Day y Noche, The Granville Inn, Hashi (new!), Ray Rays BBQ (new!), Snapshots, and Three Tigers Brewing (now a much bigger place just across the street from its former site).

8 p.m. onward | Enjoy your first drink on Denison at Three Tigers Brewing or Seek–no–Further Cidery, a new Granville hang-out located in the white barn behind Park National Bank and across the street from Elm’s Pizza. You’ll find a voucher for the first drink in your welcome packet.

Saturday, June 11

9 a.m. – Noon. | Residence hall check-in, Burton D. Morgan Center

2020 Graduates, get your key to your residence hall room, cap and gown, and vouchers for your weekend activities.

9 a.m. – Noon. | Ann & Thomas Hoaglin Wellness Center Tours and Morning Activities, Open to all family and friends.

Play a round of golf, go to the farmer’s market in town, or check out some of the new buildings on campus, including Silverstein Hall. You can also be one of the first to see the new Ann and Thomas Hoaglin Wellness Center. We offer tours departing from the front of Swasey Observatory at 10, 10:30, and 11 a.m. Please note this is an active construction site and closed-toe shoes are required.

9 a.m. – Noon | Knowlton Center for Career Exploration Open House & Coaching Appointments, Burton D. Morgan Center

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. | Buzzy Brunch with Class of 2020 and families, Reese-Shackelford Common. Open to all family and friends.

Catch up with your friends and enjoy yummy food at brunch. Free for 2020 alumni. Family members and guests of alumni can purchase their meals on-site for $10.

2 – 3:30 p.m. | Senior Bucket List. Open to 2020 Graduates

Participate in this cherished senior week tradition. Climb the Swasey bell tower, learn about the history of the College Cemetery, and take a seat at President Weinberg’s desk!

4 p.m. |  Baccalaureate, Swasey Chapel. Open to all family and friends; graduates do not have to wear their gowns and can be seated with their guests.

Denison’s Baccalaureate service provides members of the Class of 2020 a time to express gratitude for their education at Denison and everyone who has supported them. Baccalaureate also serves as a blessing for alumni as they reflect on their time on The Hill.

5 p.m. |  Arts Reception for Class of 2020, Michael D. Eisner Center.

Members in the Class of 2020 and their families are invited to reconnect with the arts faculty and their classmates. Whether you majored or minored in an arts discipline or were part of a vocal, music, or dance ensemble, come join us for some light refreshments and reconnection to the arts at Denison.

6 p.m. |  Reception for Class of 2020 Athletes, Mitchell Athletic Center.

Class of 2020 athletes and their families are invited to reconnect with their coaches and teammates. Nan Carney-DeBord ’80, associate vice president and director of athletics, will give a toast to the graduates.

7 -11 p.m.| Senior Soiree, Moon Hall. Open to graduates, family, and friends.

A celebration with food trucks, a bar, and dancing for the Class of 2020 and their guests.  President Adam Weinberg will give a toast to the Class of 2020 at 9 p.m. A firework show will follow his remarks. Meals and drink tickets are free for 2020 graduates. Guests can purchase meals directly from the three food trucks: Burrito Bus, Mai Chau, and Pitabilities.

Sunday, June 12

8:30 a.m. |  Coffee and Continental Breakfast, Academic Quad

Class of 2020, families, and members of the faculty & staff gather for coffee and conversation.

9:30 a.m. | Processional Line-up -Reese-Shackelford Common

10 a.m. | Commencement ceremony, Academic Quad

Denison University’s Commencement Ceremony celebrates the achievements of the Class of 2020. The event will include remarks by Denison President Adam Weinberg with James Anderson ’85, head of corporate communications and marketing at WarnerMedia and interim head of communications at CNN, presenting the Commencement keynote address for the Denison University Class of 2020. President and CEO of Legacy Health Kathryn Correia ’79 will deliver remarks on behalf of the Denison Board of Trustees. Michaela Morrison ’20, the class speaker, will also address the audience.

Commencement will take place outdoors, so please plan accordingly for Central Ohio weather, including rain. Tickets are not required to attend Commencement exercises. An official photographer will be on hand to take pictures of graduates crossing the ceremonial stage.

11:15 a.m. | Post Commencement Brunch, Reese-Shackelford Common

Enjoy brunch with your family and friends following the ceremony. All Commencement guests are invited to attend at no cost.

12 – 2 p.m. |  Room check-out, key return at Burton D. Morgan Center

Say farewell to Denison and your classmates and check out of your residence hall. Keys must be returned by 2 p.m.

Travel Information

Shuttle service

There will be a free shuttle service traveling to and from the airport for Class of 2020 alumni. Please sign up for a shuttle time slot when you register online.

Hotel accommodations in local area

Families and guests are encouraged to book their stay in an area hotel soon. Here is a list of area accommodations you may find useful. Class of 2020 alumni will be provided housing on campus at no charge.
