A nationally-recognized authority in the hospital administration field, David Everhart is well-known for providing the optimum setting for medical care. He is president and chief executive officer as well as chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. The hospital is one of the world’s largest private hospitals, regarded as a leader in the nation’s health care delivery system.

He has also served as executive director of the New England Medical Center Hospital during the crucial years of rebuilding and expansion, as vice president of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and as associate director of the Henry Ford Hospital.

Long active in national and state hospital association affairs, he has been influential in the improvement of professional service, outpatient care, health care for the urban poor, continuing education for health care personnel, management, research and teaching in hospitals as a member of councils and committees of the American Hospital Association, the board of the Association of American Medical Colleges (former chairman), and the board of the Illinois Hospital Association. He was a member of the AHA AID Mission to Paraguay.
