Additional Information
When should we plan to arrive?
Families can arrive when their schedule allows, but we recommend arriving by 1 p.m. on Friday, September 27 to take full advantage of the Friday afternoon opportunities designed for families, even if their student is still in class.
What does it cost?
Registration is $40 for adults, $20 for ages 6 – 18, and free for ages 5 and under. This cost includes your Friday evening class-year reception and the Saturday night dinner and concert. Saturday afternoon’s tailgate is self-pay. Please note that current Denison students will not need a ticket, so please do not purchase a ticket for your Denison student.
Where should we consider staying?
We’ve negotiated special Denison discounts at Cherry Valley Hotel and The Junto, or you can check out our list of area accommodations for possible options.
When do most families depart campus?
Families typically depart on Sunday, late morning or early afternoon, as students will then study and prepare for the week ahead.
Can grandparents attend? What about siblings?
Yes, absolutely! Grandparents and siblings are more than welcome.
Last year I attended Big Red Weekend. Is this different?
In the past Big Red Weekend was a combined homecoming and family weekend experience. Beginning this year, Denison’s Family Weekend (September 27 – 29) and Big Red Weekend (November 1 -3) are two separate weekends. Each weekend focuses on connecting students to either families or alumni. Family Weekend will be the perfect time for family members or loved ones of a student to enjoy time on campus and better understand their student’s college experience.
