Steve Kerr is a Managing Director and Global Engagement Partner for Marsh, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, where he is responsible for driving leadership, innovation and customer service for Marsh’s largest global clients.
Previously, Steve led several operations for Marsh. He was the sales leader for the Americas, responsible for Marsh’s growth and marketing strategies, and the CEO and President of Seabury & Smith, a division of Marsh responsible for consumer and commercial products. Under Steve’s leadership, Seabury and Smith, along with Mercer Human Resource Consulting, redesigned Marsh’s voluntary benefits business, bringing the business into alignment with the Affordable Care Act. The seven distinct businesses not only grew, but the team was eventually given multiple JD Power awards for Excellent in Service and Outstanding Marketing for all of Seabury & Smith’s services. Prior to this experience, Steve held several leadership and management positions and was the Chief Operating Officer in the Midwest for Marsh’s brokerage operations.
Steve’s home has always been Chicago. After graduating in 1976, Steve earned his M.B.A. in finance from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He remains an active member of the alumni and has served on Kellogg’s Alumni Council. Steve is active playing racquet sports with the occasional visit for repairs to Illinois Bone & Joint.
Steve and his wife, Debbie, live in Chicago and have three sons, Ross, Jarrett and Eric, all of whom call Chicago their home.
Deb and Steve spend considerable time supporting local charities. Previously, Deb chaired the Pediatric Aids of Chicago organization, and now Steve and Deb are very active in the Northshore Healthcare Auxiliary.
