Clyde Conley has been president and general manager at The Mount Vernon Bridge Company in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, since 1930. He started with the company in 1902 as draftsman. The company has constructed large bridges over most of the principal rivers in the United States. It has also built landing craft for the Navy as well as bridges and barges for the Army. Mr. Conley is president of the Knox County Savings Bank and of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club and was for three terms president of the Mt. Vernon City Council. He is a director of the Cooper-Bessemer Corporation and former president of the American Institute of Steel Construction. He is senior warden of the St. Paul’s Church and is prominent in numerous clubs, national professional organizations, and honor societies. He has served as a director of the Y.M.C.A., a trustee of the Mt. Vernon Community Trust, and president of the Country Club and dean of its board of directors.
