Jason Dozier is an elected member of the Atlanta City Council and an innovation strategist at Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit organization that helps veterans achieve success through a rewarding career path.
Hailing from Atlanta, Jason graduated from Denison with a Bachelor of Arts in history and education in 2005. His academic achievements were numerous, including receiving a history department award, a distinguished leadership award, and several scholarships that recognized his excellence. His time at Denison laid the foundation for his future success.
Following graduation, Jason joined the United States Army where he served as a reconnaissance officer in both Iraq and Afghanistan, earning both the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star. Jason holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia and a Master of Science in Real Estate from Georgia State University.
Having witnessed the challenges that veterans face when transitioning to civilian life, he has dedicated his career to helping servicemen and women find success in the workforce. At Hire Heroes USA, he has held various positions, including veteran transition specialist, manager of plans and operations, and director of program operations and evaluations. His contributions have shaped the lives of innumerable veterans.
Jason was elected to the Atlanta City Council in 2022 and represents District 4, also serving as a consultant to Hire Heroes USA, a national nonprofit supporting U.S. military members and veterans in the civilian workforce.
In addition to his existing District 4 commitments, Jason has extended his service to his community and his city through boards such as Invest Atlanta, Atlanta BeltLine Inc., the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, the West End Community Improvement District, the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation, and the Partners for HOME Continuum of Care Governing Council, further contributing to the City of Atlanta’s growth and well-being. Jason is also a 2015 alumnus of LEAD Atlanta, a 2016 Political Partner with the Truman National Security Project, a 2016 New Leaders Council Fellow, a 2016 Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40 honoree, and a 2021 Georgia Trend 40 Under 40 honoree.
As a proud Denison alum, Jason has remained engaged with his alma mater as a member of his Reunion Gift Committee, the Black Alumni Association, and the Alumni Council, and through loyal gifts to the Annual Fund.
Jason is a resident of Atlanta’s Mechanicsville community, where he resides with his wife, Claire, and daughters Rayna and Naomi.
