Marty has been a research scientist in the Department of Cell Biology at the Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation since 1985. She is also Associate Professor in the Department of Regulatory Biology at Cleveland State University and in the Department of Biology at Case Western Reserve University. She has previously been on staff in the Department of Immunology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and in the Department of Biology at Case Western Reserve University.

Marty graduated magna cum laude from Denison where she was a Biology Fellow and Bacteriology Teaching Fellow, and earned her Ph.D. in microbiology from Case Western Reserve University in 1979.

She has been widely published and has also been involved with grants review for the National Science Foundation and with the American Heart Association.

Marty has received numerous scientific honors, including the Cleveland YWCA Career Woman of Achievement Award in 1986, her citation for which notes, in party, “her commitment to education and to the development of the careers of young investigators by teaching at both Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State by directing the research of pre and past doctoral fellows; …and participation in other organizations where her communication skills, sensitivity and enthusiasm are highly valued.”

Marty has been a valuable volunteer for Denison. She has served as an Alumni Club Co-President, career advisor, DART volunteer, PA and Campaign for Denison volunteer, and a term on the Alumni Council.

She and her husband, Dave ’72, have one son and live in Cleveland.
