Dr. Karen Morse is currently serving as department head and professor of the department of chemistry at Utah State University.

Following her graduation from Denison with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa, Karen received her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

She has received numerous awards and honors both in her field, and in a wider world, including Utah’s National Women’s History Week award in 1983. She has served as a member of the ETA/Graduate Record Examination Board, a member of the Research Fund’s Advisory Board, Logan’s swim team coach, co-chairperson of Utah State University’s Status of Women Committee, and American Chemical Society’s Committee for Professional Training, which sets curriculum criteria and passes on colleges’ accreditation status.

Denison’s chemistry department has invited her back to campus as a speaker on several occasions, including distinction as an alumni scholar in 1979. She has written regularly for professional publications and has been listed in Outstanding Young Women of America.
