Katherine Critchfield Hutson gives Denison copious credit for her life-long vision of service which has led her into prominence in numerous community enterprises. She has been president of the Young Women’s Christian Association, having served as a board member and for 25 years. She has headed numerous other organizations, church and civic, including the Musical Art Club. She founded the Society for the Preservation of Spirituals, and has been especially active in recordings for a permanent collection of authentic African-American folk material.
