Malloch-Brown combines an interest in design and the arts with board-level involvement in education, environmental, humanitarian, and health organizations.
Her current board memberships cover food security, refugee, and health organizations. They include chair of Bioversity International UK & USA, Barrow Foundation UK, and the Women’s Refugee Commission, and membership in the Africa Europe Foundation’s Women’s Leadership Network.
Malloch-Brown is also co-founder of the Washington Circle, an outreach group of Refugees International, which fosters high-level dialogue around refugee and humanitarian issues. Earlier in her career, she worked at an international political consultancy firm and at the Open Society Foundation as a program officer for Eastern Europe. She has also worked with the Charities Aid Foundation as a consultant focusing on international philanthropy.
On the design side, Malloch-Brown has worked in both the decorative arts and in jewelry design and marketing. She helped establish a design studio for handmade decorative wall coverings and fabrics and was a partner in Tin House Studio, a furniture, fabric, and interior design studio focusing on restoration and upholstery.
Malloch-Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Denison and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University (SIPA, 1991). She also has a gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America (1999) and a Professional Qualification Degree in furniture, upholstery, and fabrics from the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers at the London Metropolitan University, CASS School of Art, Architecture, and Design (2017).
Malloch-Brown is a passionate Denison advocate and supporter, encouraging connections among Denisonians living abroad. Throughout the years, she has unfailingly served Denison as a member of the alumni council, board of advisors, and as a trustee.
