Pete Halliday is recognized for his leadership in the Columbus, Ohio business community as well as for his service to his community and alma mater. Currently he is a consultant in the venture capital markets while serving as Chairman of Communications III, Inc. and the Bexley Heritage Fund. Pete spent more than thirty-five years in the investment business with the Columbus firm of Vercoe & Company, where he served as President and major stockholder. He negotiated the sale of Vercoe & Company to Advest, Inc. in 1984 and served on Advest’s board for ten years.
A career advisor for Denison students and alumni, Pete has also been a volunteer for multiple Denison fundraising projects, including the Annual Fund, capital campaigns, and Beta Theta Pi House renovation. He chaired the Ohio Regional Campaign for Denison and has served as president of his Class since graduation in 1959. In addition, Pete has been President of Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association as well as Chair of the Columbus President’s Associates program.
Pete has served on over fourteen boards of directors, and has been responsible for funding over thirty corporations in his investment career. Among these were The Limited, Inc., and Wendy’s International. He has been on the Board of Whitehall Bexley Rotary and the Board of the Broad Street Presbyterian Church. Pete has also served as President of the Battelle Youth Scholarship and of the Bexley Youth Sports Association, where he was a coach for six years.
Pete and his wife Janet Waugh Halliday ’59 raised their family in Columbus, Ohio and they now split their time between Bexley, Ohio and their home on Sanibel Island in Florida.
