Robert Levine has built an acclaimed career as a writer and producer in television, crafting compelling, high-stakes stories that span genres and eras. After graduating from Denison with top honors — including Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, a Distinguished Leadership Award, and the President’s Medalist Award — Levine entered the entertainment industry and quickly became a rising creative force.

He is best known as the co-creator of the hit series Black Sails, the Starz pirate drama that aired for four critically acclaimed seasons. More recently, he co- created the FX series The Old Man, a psychological thriller starring Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow, based on the novel by Thomas Perry.

Levine’s wide-ranging work also includes developing a historical drama about Cleopatra for Amazon Studios, adapting Dennis Lehane’s Gone Baby Gone for television, developing the legal drama Whistleblowers with Carlton Cuse and ABC Studios, and working on major network shows such as Jericho, Harper’s Island, Human Target, Touch, and See. Known for his ability to blend action, drama, and character-driven storytelling, Levine brings both literary depth and cinematic flair to the screen.

As a contributor to The Denisonian and WDUB, and as a member of the Denison Film Society, Levine’s creativity was on display while he was a student on campus. Post-graduation, he has assisted Denison on several occasions as a guest speaker.

Robert lives with his wife and daughters in Los Angeles, continuing to write and develop original content. His enduring commitment to storytelling and his contributions to the television landscape embody the artistry and intellectual rigor that define a Denison education.
