Skip NordhoffStephen “Skip” Nordhoff has exemplified a life of distinguished service, leadership, and dedication — to his country, his profession, and his alma mater. Upon graduating from Denison, Skip was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, launching a 28-year career of active and reserve military service. As a Marine aviator, he flew CH-53D helicopters and deployed to the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Red Seas, as well as to Cuba and Haiti.

Following the events of September 11, Skip answered the call of duty on three separate deployments, including tours of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Jordan. He retired at the rank of colonel in 2017, earning numerous commendations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals.

In his civilian career, Skip has advanced the missions of leading institutions in higher education and healthcare, including Harvard Business School and Harvard School of Public Health, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Wheaton College. He currently serves as the senior director of development and alumni engagement at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

A proud and active Denisonian, Skip has given generously of his time and talent to the university, serving on the Alumni Council, the Annual Fund Leadership Committee, the Denison Admissions Recruitment Team (DART), and in numerous leadership roles from his 10th through 35th Reunions.

As a student, Skip was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Pi Sigma Alpha, and was a standout on the varsity track and field and cross country teams. He lives in suburban Boston and is the proud father of two children, Galen (26) and Grace (22).
