Following his graduation from Denison, William A. “Bing” Cornell joined the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and worked through the ranks of this large, corporate communications firm to the highest tier, retiring as vice president in 1980.
He actively participated in the life of his community, serving as emeritus trustee for the Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, past president of Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland, director of Cleveland Red Cross and United Way, chairman of Major Industries, and director of Cleveland Growth Association. He belonged to both the Cleveland and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, and was listed in volume 35 of Who’s Who.
Always a loyal alumnus, Bing served as a Denison trustee from 1968 to 1974, was an Alumni Council member, campaign volunteer, fraternity alumni volunteer, and is on the 50th reunion committee of this year’s golden anniversary class.
