A Phi Beta Kappa member of the class of 1934, Marguerite Oxley Selleck has a lifetime record of service to others, particularly children.
A resident of Richmond, Calif., for 50 years, she was named Richmond Woman of the Year in 1959 for her community leadership. Active for many years with the Camp Fire movement, she has served on the national board and as a counselor to four different groups, including an inner-city black group. She was nationally recognized for this service.
In the world of music, she served on the board of the San Francisco Symphony Foundation for many years, was president of the East Bay League of the San Francisco Symphony twice, and is currently chairman of docents in the East Bay area.
She served as chair of the library commission of the city of Richmond for seven years and a commissioner for 14 years. She was a delegate to the UNESCO Conference in San Francisco and has represented Denison at a Phi Beta Kappa convention.
Her church activities are long and varied as is her work with the PTA and YWCA.
Marguerite continues her active life as a volunteer chairman of an 800-member chapter of Retired Teachers, organizing and conducting tours both local and long distance.
