Wayland Zwayer’s vital contributions to the development of better international relationships and unceasing effort to give aid and hope to untold numbers of his fellow human beings as a Church World Service leader exemplify the best of Denison ideals and Christian insights.
For his work as presiding officer of American Relief for Korea, the president of Korea conferred upon Mr. Zwayer honorary citizenshop. The German Federal Republic awarded him Das Grosse Verdienstkreuz, the highest honor which can be bestowed upon a civilian, for his chairmanship of CRALOG, a program representing the total effort of all American relief agencies which have assisted Germany in post-war years. As an American representative of the World Council of Churches, Department of Inter-Church Aid and Service to Refugees, he is in continuous consultation and negotiation with foreign governments concerning reconstruction, financial assistance, and inter-church aid and service to displaced persons in 19 countries of Europe and Asia.
