Dr. Anna Barbara Grey has dedicated her exceptional talents in the healing arts to medical practice in the mission field.
A Baptist medical-missionary to Burma since 1922, Dr. Grey is superintendent of the Ellen Mitchell Memorial Hospital in Moulmein. She has often performed major surgery in primitive surroundings, often improvising on surgical aids. During World War II, she twice escaped the Japanese invaders. When they drove her from Moulmein, she operated the famed hospital in Namkahn founded by Burma Surgeon Gordon Seagrave ’17. She is most known for her work with typhoid, tuberculosis, and leper cases, in addition to her general practice.
