An attorney, Ron Rakowsky devoted his legal skills to service to his country for almost thirty years in the U.S. Air Force. Awarded the J.D. from Case Western Reserve University, he served as Starr Judge Advocate for the Air Reserve Personnel Center at the time of his 1994 retirement. As senior legal advisor to the ARPC commander and staff, he had the responsibility for managing 675 reserve attorneys and 200 reserve paralegals while providing legal support for Research personnel in missions as complex as Desert Storm. During his Pentagon assignment, Ron had major input into the development of the Department of Defense AIDS policy and drug testing program. Both have become virtual templates for state, federal, and international applications.

Throughout his military career, Ron served as a volunteer board member of credit unions in nearly all the cities where he served. He was President of the Judge Advocates Association, which represents judge advocates from all branches of the armed forces. In his present community, Ron is often thought of as the “sixth” board member (of an official five-member board) for the local Fire Department.

Ron’s service to Denison over the years has been exceptional as both an Alumni Club President and Vice President for Clubs of the Alumni Council. He has worked as a fund-raiser in both Annual Fund and Capital Campaign roles. His untiring efforts in the admissions and career-advising areas are testimony to his faith in Denison’s mission.

Currently Director of Leasing for the Colorado Credit Union League, Ron and his wife Margaret Hughes Rakowsky ’65 make their home in Greenwood Village, Colorado. They have two grown children; Robert Rakowsky and Catherin Rakowsky Bollin ’92. His Denison family also includes brothers John ’73 and Thomas ’80.
