Following graduation, Richard Boyer attended graduate school at the University of Iowa where he received his masters in fine arts in 1968. After, he taught school in Winnetka, Ill., and worked as an editor for Little Brown & Co.
Rick is the author of several novels, including Penny Ferry, The Great Rat of Sumatra, and Billingsgate Shoal, which won the Edgar Award for the best mystery of 1982.
Newest works include the fifth Doc Adams suspense novel, The Whale’s Footprints, published in 1988, as well as Daisy Ducks and Moscow Metal.
He is an editor of the much-discussed Places-Rated Almanac, and as a result of this research he moved to Ashville, N.C., where he writes and teaches writing.
He has been back to campus as a guest of the English department to read excerpts from his work.
