Kendall Smith graduated from Denison in 1964 and began his medical studies at the Ohio State University College of Medicine where he graduated summa cum laude in 1968.

He served an internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, then served as Research Associate at the National Cancer Institute and then at Dartmouth Medical School.

After a year in France at the Institute de Cancerologie at d’Immunogenetique, he returned to Dartmouth as assistant professor of medicine. He achieved the rank of professor in 1982 and served Dartmouth in that capacity until spring of this year. He is currently professor of medicine at the New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center.

Among many honors and awards, Kendall is most noted for his work with Interleukin 2 and Interleukin 2 Receptors. From his research, developments may progress so that truly effective medicinal intervention will eventually become a reality in a wide variety of disorders of the immune system.

He has a long and distinguished list of published work and has served on numerous editorial and scientific advisory boards and as a consultant to various scientific committees.
