Mo Dixon has been practicing pediatrics for over forty years. After graduating from Denison with a B.S. degree in 1947, he pursued medical studies at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and obtained the M.D. degree in 1951. This was followed by three years of pediatric residency at Grace New Haven Community Hospital where he became Instructor of Pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine in 1953-54.
From 1954 to 1974 he practiced pediatrics in Wooster, Ohio, interrupted by eighteen months as Medical Advisor to the Family Planning Program of Pakistan in 1965-66. He then joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where is now Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Special Care Center at Health Hill Hospital for Children.
During the past thirty years, Mo has been particularly interested in international health. In 1967-69 he designed the Family Planning Program for Iran, and in 1985-86 he was Chairman of the Department of Child Health at the University of West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Recently he participated in medical missions in Lithuania, Russia, Palestine, and Trinidad. Travelling for business and pleasure has taken him to over sixty countries worldwide.
In addition to his foreign work, Mo has been on numerous medical advisory boards and committees which are responsible for providing services to disabled and disadvantaged children at the local, state, and national levels. He is completing thirty years on the Medical Care Advisory Committee of the Ohio Medicaid program, and is the author of more than twenty professional articles and publications
Mo is a member of Denison’s 1947 Golden Anniversary Reunion Committee. He and his wife, Jill, live in Cleveland Heights and have five grown children.
