He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville and later a M.S. in Pediatrics from the University of Minnesota. He is nationally recognized in the field of Pediatric Radiology.
In 1961, John was appointed Radiologist in Chief of the Southern California Children’s Hospital, and as Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at the University of Southern California.
John has held numerous visiting professorships and consultantships, and has published extensively to expand the medical literature in his area of expertise. He has served as a director of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and received their distinguished service award.
In 1989 he was awarded the Gold Medal by The Society for Pediatric Radiology, only the second person to receive this award. He has been listed in Who’s Who in America, and is a retired Captain in the U.S. Navy.
As an alumnus in California, John has continued his interest in Denison by serving as Alumni Club President, Fellowthon volunteer, and a Career Advisor.
Sadly John’s wife, Pat ’45, who had planned to accompany him this weekend, died in March. They raised four children. He lives in Lake San Marcos, California.
