Professor Robert L. Morlan is a respected instructor and practitioner of state and local politics.
As professor of government and director of the division of social sciences at the University of Redlands, Morlan has been involved in the study, writing, and practice of politics and government for more than 20 years. He has served in various capacities of southern California state and local government, including city councilman, vice mayor, president of the Citrus Belt Division of the California cities. He is a past-president of the Western Political Science Association and a past member of the board of editors of its quarterly. His publications include 24 articles and pamphlets as well as six books.
Considered a leading authority in his field of state and local government, Morlan has been a visiting professor of political science at the College of Europe Bruges, Belgium, 1959-60; University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, 1956-57; and will in 1972-73 be a visiting research scholar and professor at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. He has been honored with Mortar Board’s Outstanding Professor Award and Omicron Delta Kappa’s National Distinguished Service Award. He has been chairman of the National Committee of the Washington Semester, commissioner of the California State Scholarship and Loan Commission, and president of the local Council of Churches.
