Emma Lou Worthington is a nationally-known business administrator and one of the leading women in the field of personnel management.

As personnel Director of Midland Mutual Life Insurance Company in Columbus since 1955, Mrs. Worthington is the first woman to hold official rank in the company. She has twice been national secretary of the American Society for Personnel Administrators, the largest national organization of personnel directors from business, industry, and educational institutions. She has also served the organization as director and chairwoman of its Women-in-Personnel Committee. She was the first woman president in the history of the Personnel Society of Columbus, holding numerous offices prior to the presidency. She has also been invited to serve on various business and professional panels, workshops, seminars, and conferences. A member of the Official Board of her church, she also teaches a Sunday School class and is chairman of the finance committee. Her community activities include membership on the Franklin County Child Welfare Advisory Committee, the United Community Council, and a team captaincy in the United Appeal. She is the mother of four sons, two of whom are now students at Denison.
