Eugene H. Hanhart is a citizen and political leader who has won the respect and admiration of those who have devoted their lives to the interested of preserving a strong two-party system in the state of Ohio.

Owner and operator of an insurance agency in Dover since 1929, Mr. Hanhart was cited by the Ohio Association of Insurance Agents, Inc., for his contributions to the resident agency system and to the public interest. In 1946, the U.S. Treasury Department awarded him a citation for his achievement as area chairman for Defense Bond and War Bond drives in World War II. Appointed by Governor Lausche in 1948 to the chairmanship of the Democratic State Executive Committee of Ohio, which he held for eight years, he has placed service to his state and to his country above his own personal considerations.
