B.A., Denison University
B.A., Yale University

Citation awarded June, 1990

Helen Evans represents the personification of the many faces of the liberal arts. She is currently the owner and manager of a New Hampshire tree farm which has won numerous state and regional awards. She also teaches independent living skills to mentally-retarded adults.

Helen is also a published historian with three additional works on New Hampshire genealogy in progress. She is a quilter and teacher of quilting.

Perhaps she would identify herself mainly as an actress. Active in the theatre at Denison, she has toured with a national company, spent 12 years with the conservatory players, acted with several summer stock companies, and was business manager of Theatre-by-the-Sea in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Currently she is presenting her one-woman show, “Yankees Yesterday.”

Helen also gives her time to the New Hampshire Historical Society and is curator of the Historical Society in Bedford, New Hampshire.
