Paul Hylbert is president and CEO of PrimeSource, Inc., one of the largest distributors of building products in the country. Throughout his business career, Paul has devoted significant time to volunteer service as well, particularly to Denison.

Paul began his career with Wickes Corporation, immediately after graduation in 1966. In his twenty-one years at Wickes, he held a variety of management jobs in a number of diverse locations including a four-yer stint in Europe and eight years in California. In 1987, Paul led a management buyout of the Sequoia Supply division of Wickes, which he later merged with the Grip-Rite Companies to form PrimeSource in 1990.

In the volunteer arena, Paul coached a variety of youth sports for twenty-seven years, or until all of his three children were at a point where their skills were beyond his capabilities to improve. Over the years he has been active on the advisory boards of the YMCA, the City of Hope, and the United Way. To Denison’s benefit, Paul has served as his Class President, Class Fund Chair, Capital Campaign Divisional Vice Chair, and President’s Associates National Chair.

Paul earned an M.B.A. at the University of Michigan in 1971 and has served his industry in a number of capacities, including President of the National Association of Building Materials Distribution, member of the Policy Advisory Board to the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard, and a member of the Home Center Advisory Board.

Paul comes from a large family of Denisonians, including both his parents (Charlotte and Paul Hylbert ‘43/’43), his brother (Tony ’72), and two of his children (Jennifer ’88 and Scott ’91). Paul and his wife Katharine make their home in Dallas, Texas.
