A member of the 50th reunion class of 1934, Wilbur Lohrentz has had a long and distinguished career in labor and personnel relations, retiring in 1978 as administrative vice president of personnel and management services at United States Steel.

After receiving his J.D. from DePaul University in 1939, Mr. Lohrentz was actively involved in Chicago politics. He practiced law and worked for the U.S. government in the departments of Justice and Immigration and Naturalization before the corporate world.

Mr. Lohrentz has served in a number of important posts both public and private, including as president and director of the Labor Policy Association in Washington, D.C., chairman of the Conference Board Management Advisory Council, and chairman of the Industrial Relations Committee of both the American Iron and Steel Institute and the International Iron and Steel Institute.

In his civic life, Mr. Lohrentz has served the community of Allegheny College as president of the board of trustees. He has also been a director and president of the Western Pennsylvania Safety Council and director of Pittsburgh’s Junior Achievement.

He has served Denison through his presidency of the Pittsburgh Alumni Club and membership on the class of 1934 50th reunion committee.
